Neptune TL Clutch Relube

Started a small load of (3) jeans last night at bedtime in my Neppy TL. Found it this morning crying for help with a "d-istribute c-lothes" fault and failed final spin. Determined upon investigation that the clutch was malfunctioning, causing the tumblers to turn during spin which throws the load off-balance.

Removed the clutch, found nothing broken. Cleaned the one-way roller bearings and lightly relubed the assembly. Seems to be OK now.

1) There's very little room under the tub for access to the clutch/pulley bolt. I removed it from beneath on a previous exam. Opted this time to tilt the tub out of the cabinet, MUCH easier access! The mounting of the front support struts into the tub is designed to allow tilting forward.

2) Forgot to take a pic of the assembled clutch/pulley, found this online.

3) Drive shafts on bottom of the tub. Inner square shaft turns the tumblers when the motor runs clockwise via a simple "transmission" filled with mineral oil. Outer keyed shaft turns the basket when the motor runs counterclockwise.

4) Disassembled clutch/pulley. Belt wraps around outside of the black pulley. A coiled torque spring is mounted inside the pulley. The white cam fits inside with the tab of the spring in the slot. The basket drive coupler fits inside the cam.

5) Torque spring and square drive for the tumblers.

6) The cam is fitted with a one-way roller bearing which allows the cam to free-spin clockwise around the basket drive coupler and lock to it when turning counterclockwise. This is why there's no reverse-tumble of the load.

6b) The load "climbs" up the side of the basket to roll over during tumbling, so the tumblers do turn slightly backward when the motor reverses until the torque spring engages, which provides for centering the load in the basket for spin balance.

7) Cam and coupler assembled into the pulley, with the torque spring released as when the pulley turns clockwise around the cam to drive the tumblers.

8) Torque spring engaged as when the pulley turns counterclockwise to drive the cam, coupler, and basket.
