Ever since it was new, the oven takes over 30 minutes to preheat. During preheat, the gas goes off and on repeatedly as if it has reached temp. The timer counts down from 10 minutes but it hasn't even reached the half way mark. The thermometer I have in the oven is accurate as it always (eventually) reads the exact temp that I have it set for. Why doesn't the gas stay on continually until temp is reached? Replacing the temperature probe would be a cheap easy fix but could it be something else like the gas valve or control board?

My new KitchenAid double oven induction range -- I can hear the element cycle on & off while preheating  for both ovens.  The small oven takes about 12-15 minutes to reach 350 and the larger oven about 18 minutes.

If the sensor was bad the temps would be inaccurate. You could have a weak ignitor, or perhaps your safety valve is defective somehow. I’m assuming you have a standard hsi type of system.

I don’t believe it’s normal for a gas oven to cycle like that, someone please correct my if I’m wrong. Electric ovens will typically cycle the broil and bake elements to assist with evenly heating the oven.
