Several weeks ago a chum rang up saying he was moving some "old stock" out of his restaurant and offered. As one needs anything else cleaning wise around here like one needs the proverbial cranial aperture, at first graciously declined. Then came the words "Ecolab". Well that is different....

So here I am with this: several heavy canisters of Ecolab Solid Metal Pro.

www.hillnmarkes.com/24161...

The stuff is a "ware washing and destaining" detergent meant for cleaning pots, pans, and other metal ware in commercial dishwashers. Scrub that, had to find other uses.

Since cannot or will not get mitts on the proper dispensing system from Ecolab, just poured 8 ounces of very hot water into container (the product is a rock solid mass), swished it about, waited a few minutes, then poured into sink or whatever.

Am here to tell you this stuff is wonderful! Cleaned a sink full of greasy aluminum and other metal pots and pans (including a broiler) totally of grease, muck and brunt on gunk. Yet didn't darken the aluminum or cause any other discoloration or problems.

Next tried a bit of the "magic solution" to clean my metal coffee pots and thermos. Interiors came out totally shining and clean, while drained water was a horrible dark brown color....

Being as the stuff is mainly sodium metasilicate and washing soda, mixed up a solution, and took it round to laundromat to use in those commercial machines. Was doing a load of nasty sheets for a friend, and things came out quite clean. Far better than when using Tide liquid alone.

Mind you this stuff is extremely corrosive when mixed in solution (see links for MSDS), so there is that.

Likely will only keep the one canister, mark up the rest and sell them on... Think just the one shall last me the duration.

Is designed for use in Commercial Pot/Pan washing machines although can be used in dishmachines where mostly metal kitchen ware is washed. It contains corrosion inhibiters and less caustic soda then it's dishmachine detergent cousin Solid Power.

Thehot solution would probably make a great drain unclogger.
