.
Maytag is directly comparable to Whirlpool being made by the same company using mostly the same designs. This particular model seems to have more features (sound package for one) and a very good price if ordered from the link I provide at the bottom. Shipping is included. And tax may and may not be charged depending on your state of residence. The washer is check rated at Reviewed.com and is said to go on sale for less than $600 on occasion. I wonder if its a real change, or some gimmick when it comes to reduced vibration....
they did good when the Duet Sports came out, designed well for upper level installs for minimal vibrations... same goes for sound dampening, the extra cost versus what exactly is added---a piece or two of 6x6 foam glued to the inside..... I usually glue padding in myself, covering all 6 sides as much as possible to minimize sound.... |

I just have to ask you, since yours is 10 years old. How often is it used....or what is your average load count per month? I too would def get one with a heater.. My Duet just yesterday gave me an F11 code for the first time in years. I freaked out because I really don't want to buy another machine and there's nothing wrong with it otherwise. Also, I'm not 100% on this, but I was told that the Duet pedestals (mine are from 2005), will work with current Duet and Maytag FL's, which would be GREAT if that's true.

As a matter of interest, which detergent are you using, and is it a liquid? |

There's no bleach in 'Tide+ Bleach Alternative' Liquid either. |

Unilever makes a dishwasher gel with oxy bleach contained in little "pearls".

think using LCB (chlorine bleach) is detrimental to a washer when in fact it's beneficial. I've heard it could be powder vs liquid (powders are better) but I'm not sure I buy that. The fact that she washes in cold and uses tons of fab softener is a red flag. Maybe that's built up a thick layer or something, especially if your daughter washes in cold. I use LCB in whites only (a very little mind you). I'm not sure if the powder I use has oxi but I don't think it does.
I ran a clean washer cycle last week and I think I might have confused my washer. I forgot the sequence of buttons to activate clean washer in my old duet, so I kept pushing buttons trying to remember, and suddenly I started getting F 11, but then it stopped and started working again. I keep hoping my duet will last me a while longer until Whirlpool comes out with something better - I keep thinking I'm going to have to get a new Maytag or WP, and as soon as I do, they will unveil their new line of machines with improvements like, I dunno, a door with a button catcher, a recirculation pump? Things like that. |
