The button to the right of the knob on the left hand side is for auto dry.

Who isn't charmed by the label, "Clothes Dryer"? :-) Did it ever get mistook for another appliance, like a pizza oven or dishwasher? I like this design more than some currently up for sale on CL.

When the matching washer was side by side, it could get "confusing" for the "uninitiated".

Would this still have the 'How Dry I Am?' Music Box?

No it does not Jerry. From what I have been told that was a one year feature only found on the 1953 models, and like Hans stated this is a 1955 model...PATRICK COFFEY

I was 99% sure it was 1955.  One of my mom's best friends had this dryer and was paired with a WI55 Unimatic.  Her next door neighbor had the exact same arrangement of Westy dryer and Unimatic washer. That washer & dryer served a family of 5 faithfully.  It went form Houston, to Dallas, and on to a suburb of San Francisco.  The set was eventually replaced with a matching poppy red 1-18 pair.

Wow what a combo!

A Unimatic, paired with a Westinghouse Dryer, meant the clothes were probably dry in 10 minutes. The speed of the Unimatic spinning, followed by the heat from those dryers, would have been a winning combo, for banging laundry out in rapid fire!
Those dryers heated to about 350 on normal!
Hugs,
David
