I was 99% sure it was 1955. One of my mom's best friends had this dryer and was paired with a WI55 Unimatic. Her next door neighbor had the exact same arrangement of Westy dryer and Unimatic washer. That washer & dryer served a family of 5 faithfully. It went form Houston, to Dallas, and on to a suburb of San Francisco. The set was eventually replaced with a matching poppy red 1-18 pair. |

A Unimatic, paired with a Westinghouse Dryer, meant the clothes were probably dry in 10 minutes. The speed of the Unimatic spinning, followed by the heat from those dryers, would have been a winning combo, for banging laundry out in rapid fire!
Those dryers heated to about 350 on normal! Hugs, David |
