Magnificent! Love the 'breakfast bar' concept. A person forgets how thick the walls were on older refrigerators. Can't imagine having to move that beast. Hope it came with coupons for chiropractic care and hernia surgery, LOL.

Hillary Brooke

Hillary Brooke, probably best known today as Lou Costello's love interest on "The Abbott and Costello Show (1952-1953), spoke with a sophisticated English accent, though she was from Queens, New York.

I vaugely recall this commercial. I think it may have been a commercial for the “My LIttle Margie Show” with Gail Storm, Charles Farrell and Hillary Brooke. In those days it was common place for the stars of TV shows to do the commercials. And the vintage of this Food O Rama would correspond with the years that this show was in first run status, about 53 or 54 until I believe 56, maybe into 57.

This a beautiful fridge, but wow, 47” wide is sure huge! I love all the special features, especially the banana bin below the freezer section, ingenious!.

What was the first year for the Foodarama?

To the best of my knowledge, the Foodarama was introduced for the '55 model year. Exactly when I don't know.

Kelvinator had a wide selection of colors in the mid 50's - I really like the Lagoon Blue.

The link below has an interesting history of Kelvinator (before WCI). I didn't know that Kelvinator Canada was partially owned by Sears. It says they made appliances other than laundry equipment for them in Canada.

What was the height on these fridges? That lady doesn't look very tall even in heels and she is still taller than the fridge.

Hillary Brooke...

...is also remembered as Angela Randal, Sir Clive's daughter who had designs on Ricky in "The Fox Hunt" episode. When Angela said that Ricky was a "prize" Lucy reminded her that "that prize is in my box of Cracker Jack".
