pretty neat piece of nostalgia.  Instructions even tell you how to change the fluorescent bulb, but alas, do not give the kind of bulb you need to get.  Guess if and when it burns out, I will find out.

 

Clock runs on AA battery, USA designed China made movement. 

 

The bulb can be turned off or on with inline switch.

 

Now I am trying to find a porcelain enamel gulf sign.  What out there now to buy is either die cut tin, or some silk screen affair; I like the old school 18 ga steel stuff.  And Ande Rooney has moved away from porcelain enamel.  ugh.

Real vintage clocks always seem to command a hefty price. They are very popular. It looks like there are lots of Gulf metal signs available for sale at different places. I guess some of them aren't vintage. 

 

Neon is always in style too...

Yup

the real mccoy on ebay commands a fortune. This is a reproduction but it is nice and gives me something to look at when I am in my garage.
