from PERGL signs.  Seems to be porcelain enamel, it is steel.  Did the magnet test.  29 bucks with free 2 day shipping.  I am pleased

I remember Gulf when I was little.  A store here in town became a Gulf station a few years ago but didn't last long.  We had a Spur station too that recently changed its name.

Dad had owned a very successful Gulf and tire business with a partner for 25 years.  He was a smidgen too young to legally sign the contract when he opened it, his dad signed for him.  The original partner sold his half to a young whipper-snapper, local boy fresh back in town from Brazil (petroleum engineer or some such).  Had NO mind for business.  Dad dealt with it for as long as he could stand the situation, then sold his half to the "new" guy ... who quickly-enough ran the whole thing into the ground.

Good Gulf, No-Nox, Gulf Wax, yada yada.

Beautiful old sign. My folks kept accounts with two Gulf stations. One downtown and Glass Gulf near where I grew up. They both had superb full service and did very good maintenance and repair work. I always found Gulf to be consistently good whever I went. Reminds me of the days when Premium fuel was .18 cents a gallon.

There are still Gulf stations around here with the same sign, albeit, modern. Doubt it is the NO-NOX blend any more, and no more plastic horse shoes, remember those?

Interesting fun fact about the Gulf logo. You might noticed that the Edmonton Oilers Hockey team original logo was very similar to the Gulf logo. The original corporate sponsor for the Edmonton Oilers was Gulf...the current logo resembles the original
