Unusual 60s Frigidaire Custom Imperial range $20

Are ridiculous, they waste far too much power and always get dirty and few people use them anyway, they still open the door and peek.

One of the reasons that this FD electri-clean oven had one of the best cleaning and baking performances EVER in an oven was the lack of a window.

Behind the inner porcelain door panel of this range was a 1/4" thick plate of alluvium [ don't tell donald ] this allowed great heat transfer over the entire inner door panel to even out cleaning and baking temperatures as well. Ever square inch of these FD EC ovens would clean perfectly.

GE, HP, Thermador and Roper-Kenmore SC electric ranges achieved much the same good cleaning effect with an additional heating element under the front edge of the oven liner, and on GE-HP P-7 ovens they even used this additional mullion element during baking to make up for any unevenness cause by heat losses near the door opening.

This was not only great engineering but ranges from this time period used far LESS energy than these new ranges do today as well as pre-heating faster and baking better as well.

Checkrate/Likes I used to have the HF dryer. This range is so different and I must say it's a bit gaudy don't ya think? Leave it to GM to come up with yet another uniquely styled range. I wonder if it has a rotisserie. Spatter Free Broiler Grill?

Checkrate/Likes 1 It took a while before anyone put window in their self-clean ovens. For sure, there were a couple of years where the P7's didn't have 'em!

Checkrate/Likes 1 Frigidaire didn't have windows in it's self-cleaning ovens before 1975. They were quite late at having them (I still currently have no Electri-Clean ranges that are new enough to have one but that might change soon!). I thing GE had them as early as 1967. Other brands also had them in the late 1960s.
