Just went to start the Kenmore Ultra Wash and nothing is happening. The time will light up and you can hear a faint click. It will cancel and drain and shut off.
I unplugged it and ran my fingers over all the buttons. Still nothing.

As I was typing this it was still sitting on the Normal cycle. It all of a sudden started to drain.
The dishwasher is probably 23 years old. Is it pooched?

That depends...has your dog been messing with it? LOL Just kidding!!! Do you know if this dishwasher has a separate motor for the drain pump? I was thinking if it does maybe the main motor has a problem and that would explain why it will still pump out. If it is to old to have a set up like that maybe it's a problem with the motherboard.....I am just guessing as I am not appliance repair savvy but I am sure someone who has more knowledge of such things will see this soon and respond. Float Switch...

Have you checked the float switch in the tub? My old Maytag did that once. You would start it but it just sit there and count the time down but do nothing else but drain. Found out the float got stuck in the "up" position. Once I pushed it back down, it started right up. Hopefully, it's a simple fix for you.

No one including me can begin to give you any idea what could be wrong with your DW if you can't give us a model number and serial number.

is your dishwasher one of those condo types models because if its stops and drain real fast it might be your dishwasher pump that's broken and its drain itself to avoid a water mess?
