But they don't match! You'd have to keep them covered when the girls from the bridge club come over.

The screaming lady and the Georgetown listing made me think about "The Exorcist" in which there is a great washer scene where the mother has just washed, dried, and is now ironing Father Damian's sweater after Regan's first hurled vomit bout. Going to search for that scene to see if I can identify the washer. I remember the hoses went way up the wall. It is a very warm and comforting scene. Interesting memory resurrection, guys--Thanks!

Is the Amana made by Speed Queen? How do you identify them, I see the extra rinse switch looks identical to the speed queen |

They were until Alliance Laundry Systems bought the SQ washer division of Raytheon. Raytheon made Amana too(microwaves"Radaranges" were the big product) and decided to introduce washers in the Amana line and just re-badged their own SQ models. For some time SQ was strictly commercial and only Amana models could be bought by home users. The Amana brand name is presently owned by Whirlpool. |

The Amana and 80s SQs for home use had a very poor main seal design, Alliance Laundry Systems came up with a much more durable main seal design [ which will not fit Amana models] this is why so many Amanas and Amana built Maytag built TL washers died so fast.
Other than this seal problem the Amanas and Amana-Tags were pretty much the same machine with most parts being interchangeable.

So these Amana units were made before the Speed Queen made residential models? Around what time where the Amana units made until? Was Amana unit not tall enough to fit the SQ main seal? |

SQ originally made residential models from when they started automatic production in the 1953 until the early 1980s, then they were Amana only for home models until some time in the late 1990s(don't quote me on the year) when SQ resumed home production under their own badging.
All models used the old seal design from the 1980 redesign that eliminated the old solid tub until Alliance redesigned them. Both older Amanas and SQs cannot use the redesigned seal. |
