Hi everyone! We finally closed on our house and have been really busy lately. I have known about these for a few months and finally went to go get them. The seller said they are original to the house. Pretty well optioned set and in nice condition as well. Paid $100 for both of them. Hope you all enjoy.

Top notch, indeed. Good to see them going to a person who will appreciate them and use them(but not too much).

Tyler this is really a beautiful set - Best Of Luck in your new home and with the 1/18 set! My Aunt had almost the same models except hers didn't have the window and was poppy color! She had the basement wall painted poppy to match the washer and dryer!

I would def have jumped myself.

Good Catch.  Enjoy!!

Nice looking set. Those GM/Frigidaire 1-18's are really starting to grow on me. That is what those are, correct?

If you wanted to pretty much completely rebuild both of those units, would you be able to source all the parts?

Awesome set and in delicious-to-die-for avocado green! I love those large 1-18 dryers — they do a great job. Have fun!

Thank You everyone!

For the kind words. I am so glad to be able to rescue this stuff and I cannot wait to dig into them. Yes, they are a Frigidaire 1-18 set in Avacado. Though I am not a huge fan of avocado, these just look so nice. Especially with the window lid. These will look good next to the Poppy set. They also are very clean underneath as well, fortunately.

Thank You everyone and I hope we continue to find these old treasures.

Red Set + Green Set = Christmas Party!

trainguy's profile picture

Hi Tyler,

Congrats on another fine 1-18 set. I think 1-18's are truly underrated. These sets really cleaned anything and everything quickly, efficiently, and thoroughly. And who can argue against that fantastic spray spin! I never had a set that had any major problems.

One thing that I always did to improve drying time was to replace the front and rear felt drum seals and rollers at the same time. Use plenty of syl-glide and she will run smoothly for years.

I used my 1978 WIC-A & DECI set as daily drivers for years. Of course one day I hope to find a 1979 WEG & DEEG Elite set and would give anything for one.

Best wishes,
Rich

Now you’ll have clean laundry. That avocado is becoming classic. I always preferred the red or rot beer but give something time and voila its collectible.

Love my 3 speed root beer and red Elite. SO easy to use.

I have the same model only in almond

Tonight doing a small load of towels the agitator sounded like it was going to take off into orbit.

Really loud. On gentle it was fine.

Any suggestions????

You probably have cone hop meaning a broken part inside it.

Update

None at the moment. Lots of other things going on right now between work and family visiting soon. The seller said there was an issue with the timer, but have not had the chance to check and confirm. Both are in very nice shape considering they were in a basement. I also finally unwrapped and cleaned up the Poppy set as well.

Tyler,

Once you check it out, let me know if you need anything. I should have extra timer motors and at least one rebuilt timer for this model.

How is the laundry room coming along? Have you had a chance to work on this 1-18 set yet?

Update II

I haven't had time for them. Getting some vacuum cleaner stuff together to sell etc. Hoping the timer issue will be an easy fix. If I need a timer, I will probably have to find one.
