Problems with Kitchen Aid Mixer K45SS, will not run right at lower speeds. |

I have a Kitchen Aid mixer that I got from my Mother. It's a K45SS(WH) Serial WD2633456. 250W.
The problem is with the lower speed settings. From the STIR to 6 setting the motor runs at speed 6. The faster speeds run correctly. I should point out that rarely, if set to STIR, the motor jumps between speed 6 and STIR, and finally settle down on STIR. This is very sporadic, it usually just charges along at 6. Because this is a Solid State speed control, is this something I can fix myself? Any chance it's just a dirty contact in the switch? Any idea about its age based on the Serial No? Is it a Hobart machine? Thanks, Bill | ||

There are many other members much-more familiar with KitchenAid mixers than I, but - I do believe your machine was made in 1993, which would make it a non-Hobart manufactured mixer. (Hobart sold their KitchenAid line to Whirlpool in 1986). Your problem *could* be with the Phase Control Board - or not. Hopefully someone with greater repair knowledge in this arena can point you in the right direction. And, YES, you can fix it yourself. | ||

Thanks for the input on fixing this. Unfortunately, I have a backlog of small appliances that need work, so this is just the first of many. Almost all of them were inherited from aunts, etc.
We finally cross paths on AutomaticWasher. I've known you for several years on GorillasDontBlog. I read it regularly but have stopped posting because of the time it takes out of the day. I go by Katella Gate over there. | ||
