Awesome vintage hobart - UMP-4D
Temp gauge on front, orig. Dish rack, stainless inside and out, under counter.
Dress up your vintage kitchen with one of these. Good luck finding another one in this condition anytime soon. Commercial grade but great for residential use also.
Works great

We have a customer that has had one of these in her kitchen since around 1968, this machines uses the pump-motor from the KA 14 series machines, a very cool machine that someone should get for their retro kitchen.

Have seen dishwashers like those in bars for cleaning barware. You see them under the bartender counter.

Wow! I love it!! If I were to find one within easy driving range I’d be tempted to put the Powerclean in storage for a while!

Because....you know...dishwasher.

I just happen to be working in Hickory NC for the next several months which is only about 30 miles or so from Lake Lure (for those of you who don't know, that is where Dirty Dancing was filmed back in the 80's).

If I don't stop this crap I will be on an episode of Hoarders before much longer.

You go Mark!

I hope you get it Mark, that will be an awesome addition to your continually growing collection! I think I've heard they have a really short cycle time.

Do you currently have any "commercial" dishwashers now?

no commercial machines yet

A dream machine would be a Jackson Faspray (the round dishwasher). If one of those comes up at a reasonable price I would nab it in a heartbeat.

Beautiful save:

There is NO BETTER dishmachine than a Hobart. Just know that this machine does NOT have an on board booster heater. An external one will be needed to reach the proper wash and rinse temps(150 and 180f). It should be connected to both 140F and 180F water IIRC.

Congratulations!

You will  love that 4.5 minute cycle. Do you have the provision for a gravity drain?

Where were all of you?

When I had 6 of these machines sitting in back of my garage years ago?
We had a slew of them in our Hobart warehouse and they were being trashed so some of us took a few home. I could not sell any of them and to the curb they went! Saved the best one for a spare in my Mom's basement and we used it all the time for the holiday and big gatherings.

Since a gravity drain was not feasible, I swapped out a KD-14 motor with the drain pump underneath and had it pump out. Also changed the timer to a WM-1 timer so it had the pumped drain provision built in to the timer. Used a Kitchenaid drain solenoid and it worked like a dream. It was right next to the water heater so that was turned up to 165 and the dishes flash dried without any issues.

That is a really nice machine in the pictures. Fully free standing and in great shape. Sadly, there are absolutely NO parts available from Hobart anymore. They were obsoleted in 1979 and spares requirements ended in 1994. Best to keep your eye out for another one or at least a Kitchenaid to use as a donor machine.
