In doing research on the turquoise roaster I just bought, I ran across this ad for an "Automeal" roaster which was produced from 1938-1940, from what I read.

Per the ad: "Need another oven once in a while??

This Westinghouse Roaster Oven might date back to the 50's but works as it should. Perfect extra oven to have on hand when your regular oven is booked or broken. Runs on 115 volts and uses 1320 watts. Cat. No. RRA-34.

It's complete: Base, Insert tub, Wire Strainer, Cover and Power Cord."

It's a much more handsome design than the late '40s and '50s models from Westinghouse, IMO.

That it still has its rack is a bonus, as it makes placement and extraction of the roasting or baking contents a lot easier.  Given the choice, I'd take the rack over the small cooking containers.

I agree with Ralph that this model is better looking than the ones from the 50's. To the best of my knowledge, the insert pan and lid, and any other accessories, are the same as on later models.

I would love one of these early ones. It's just shipping them... ug.
