A good MOL model, the KDC-18 "Custom" and KDS-18 "Supurba" were BOL and TOL respectively.
Many here consider the 18 series to be the best KitchenAid dishwasher made and perhaps the best household dishwasher ever made. The 18s had "constant-rinse" which is the mini sprayer at the top that showers the tops of cups. 18s were also the first with a top spray arm, the 17s only had the bottom one. The 19 series energy saving models lost heated dry therefore they aren't highly sought after like 18s. I personally own a KDS-20, just like an 18, just no constant rinse.

I have a KDI-18... it's great !!!! I had a 95 Kenmore ultra wash prior to that, which at the time I thought was great.... Getting the KDI-18 I like that better.... as long as your water is hot enough.. the 20 minute wash is what I like.. the dry cycle is longer than the wash.....I have never had any issue with it not cleaning well..... if you get it be careful loading the top rack, to not break the spray arm on top. If you have a tall item in there it may hit the wash arm and break it if you force the top rack in... they are getting hard to find.. otherwise it's a great dishwasher... once it starts you'll know it's cleaning as it's loud..... you'll also hear a SNAP when the solenoid opens to drain..no motor reverse drain on this unit.... or any of the older kitchen aid's...get it if you can......
