Hello All,

This post is on behalf of a friend who has a GE dryer; model as mentioned in the subject line. Knowing of my membership, he asked if I would ask the community what the most likely cause would be for this particular machine. He's skilled enough to handle the job - just doesn't know what to check first.

Any commentary or insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Phil

Hmmm... No replies. Okay - More information: He pulled dryer last night, went behind, attempted to remove panel, looked through hole, igniter came on, dryer worked and dried clothes. Put back in place - would not heat. Pulled away from wall to inspect again - dryer worked again...

Something loose, faulty, worn out?

Thanks,

Phil

I've gathered that it's a gas dryer, maybe pinched gas line?

Yes, pinched gas line, or

squeezed vent tube, which will make the thermal limits shut off the burner. Also won't dry well because moisture trapped in the dryer.
Outside chance a wire may be loose on the burner, or a solenoid, or broken, and moving the dryer makes the bent tub nudge it.

Most likely it has bad gas valve coils. They will often work from a cold start, but stop working as soon as they warm up some.
