Back in early 00’s (maybe between 02 and 04), I remember looking at Sears weekly ads and there was this black little front load washer and dryer set, I’m still intrigued about these machines and I’m very interested in finding the model, I’m sorry for not having a lot of information about it, all I can remember is that it looked a little bit like the frigimore but in black; I also remember the white frigimore set stacked in the next page.
Do someone have knowledge about any black front loaders sears used to sell back in those days? Maybe from 2000 to 2003...
If someone knows something or at least remember I would be so thankful.

there wasn't a lot available in Ebony at the time.....mainly it was a Limited Set or a Lady K....basically TOL for that color....everything else was either white or almond...

but these series would have been discontinued by 2000.....

Yogitunes...

Maybe it was that set, honestly I can’t exactly remember, i forgot them for many years and when they came back to my mind it wasn’t a lot of information, I will still do some research and if someone knows something else it would be awesome. I’m starting to believe it was this black Frigidaire set, if it is what do you guys know about it’s performance?

Kenmore Black FL pair

This is certainly the only black FL pair that Sears sold although they did sell the larger German built WPs in dark gray and dark blue shades.

These FD built machines were not small machines, but also not quite as large as the WPs. The FD washer was a decent performer and fairly durable [ the electronic control was sometimes a problem ], The dryer [ well it was an old WH design ] was just ok, it was a little small, ran hot in the rear of the drum and had about about 1/2 the longevity of a WP built dryer.

We had that black Frigidaire set and all I can say is run far, far away. The washer never washed very well, Warm water was basically cold, it rinsed very poorly, and had little flexibility in the cycles and options, but it was fairly reliable, after 8 years of heavy use it only ever needed a new pump. The dryer was too small and too hot, and just felt poorly made. The door would occasionally pop open during a cycle, and the auto dry sensor was never very accurate. The only real failure we had with the dryer was the door handle snapping clean off in normal use, but I didn't see it lasting long term. The dryer's biggest downfall was running far too hot, it baked the clothes. They are entry level machines disguised as top of the line machines.

I’m glad to hear your experience, I own the white Kenmore frigimore pair, I think I can basically understand what you mean since my washer hasn’t been rinsing properly lately, 14 years and until now it’s been great; been trying different detergent dosage, too little detergent and clothes feel unclean and soils like antiperspirant do not come completely off, a little bit more and they end up sticky, gooey and dingy... I’m not using any fabric softener but 1/4 of a cup of vinegar per full load for the moment. I might change my detergent for colors from Persil color to Costco Kirkland Ultra Clean free and clear...
I do my colors in Warm / Cold and whites Hot / Cold.

my only issue is this machine is a Tier 3 for water usage, which translates into using less water....

the water level is not adjustable, so we just had to improvise....

I have the gas dryer, with the burner underneath, the back wall doesn't get as hot as the electric version.....

basically you run Normal wash, warm/hot wash, cold rinse, extended spin...press start and it repeats over and over...spins very well.....

That is just awesome.  Are you still using it?

Water level

That is totally awesome, very clever way to increase water level. I did increase water level from 3” to 5” around a year ago but went back to 3” since the added weight finished up messing the old shocks.

The worst part about all that is the water level is the same through all the fills, only about 2" without clothes and sometimes no standing water at all and partially dry clothes in the wash. Rinses are the same 2 or so inches. We had clothes come out still very warm after a hot wash/cold rinse, with an extra rinse (3 in total). That's terrible rinsing.
After that set I will likely never buy frigidaire again, they got it way wrong with that set. I haven't honestly been impressed with modern Frigidaire appliances, they feel cheaply made and they appear to be a budget brand. Most however don't carry a budget price tag.
