Thank you mucho!! That is a year or two older than our first Mobile Maid, a relative of Mechanical Mandy. They have the silverware basket in sideways. If you look in the bottom there are two things to notice. First: the minimal shield over the impeller. After that they used the Plastisol coated square guard made up of 1 inch squares and then the one in ours made of stainless steel with 1/2 inch squares. Second: there is no metal deflector at the 12 o'clock position in the sump. When the motor reverses to drain, the impeller turns backwards and while it did not throw water up, with nothing to break up the impeller-induced swirling of the water, food soil was swirled above the water line so that it was not flushed into the flush away drain. The little stainless steel deflector took care of that, but I always thought it looked like an after thought or modification and it was. Thanks for the picture of the original.
