HOLY CRAP BATMAN - This dreamboat is on Indianapolis Craigslist. Sent mail to seller but no response yet. Will update if I make contact, trying to probe how flexible the price is or do they indeed want two arms, a leg and the firstborn...!! It sure looks GORGEOUS and in great condition -- even has the two 'cabinettes'. Dishwasher on the blink though. But check out the extra 9ft wall of steel cabs in both turquoise (lowers) and pink (uppers). Dying to see close-up of the formica...

It's all in beautiful shape.  I think those uppers are white though, not pink.

in the CL photos,

to me, they look pink, but sometimes my eyes play tricks on me, or I am partially color blind. I see colors for other than they may actually be.
Especially lighter shades of blues, blushes, tans etc.
Having grown up with black and white tv, I used to imagine what colors were based on what I saw in real life, then when I did see a rerun in color was surprised at what they really were.

A very nice set!

What an unusual set up location for the cooktop hood, above the mid level cabinet that it would seem would block direct suction of air from the cooktop.

Good luck contacting the seller and getting your new kitchen!

I agree they look white....I know I thought they were on first sight, but the ad actually refers to them as pink - which of course could be any number of shades. I've noticed flash from a camera has a serious wash-out effect on that color in particular. Anyway, my hope is that I'll be able to negotiate for just the turquoise set and formica counter, skipping the 'champagne blush' (?!) uppers all together.

Hi Jeff (mopar),

Thank you sir ~ I'm actually in contract to purchase an awesome mid century condo in Fort Lauderdale and I'm very intent on (re)installing a Wonder Kitchen and steel cabinets. I'll explain: the complex was designed in the 1950s by Fort Lauderdale wunderkind architect Charles F. McKirahan (also did the stunning Mai-Kai Restaurant there) and he had Wonder Kitchens installed in all the units!

Unfortunately my unit had it removed (by some uninitiated philistine in the 80s probably) but neighbor next door STILL HAS HERS and cripes its gorgeous...pink! So, yes I'm definitely on the hunt for full GE Wonder Kitchen, thats in serviceable condition. Thank you everyone in advance for keeping an eye out for me?

Johny, that will look great! I will keep an eye out by scanning craigslists, as others do here as well (and you will see them posted here on shoppers forum periodically when people find them). The hardest thing to find is the dishwasher, many sets that I have seen are missing the original dishwasher. It looks like they would be perfect for your building since they were designed into it when new. Do you have a preferred color that you are planning?

Any news about the turquoise Wonder Kitchen, Johny?   If you do get it, I'd be happy to answer any questions about the dishwasher.  I've got the '56 version of the Wonder Kitchen and I've actually fixed a couple of dishwashers of this style (including my own...repeatedly....LOL)

The pink version in Florida is gorgeous, too.    Funny that neither has the washer/dryer combo - someone knew how much fun those are to service, I guess!!

Hi Jeff, Hi Paul - yep the WKs were part of the original design in 1959 when the building was built. Famous mid century architect Charles McKirahan did quite a few residential and business buildings in Fort Lauderdale - he designed the Mai-Kai Restaurant (which is on the National Historic Registry and still going strong nearly 70 years later - huge at 400 seats!) its a total must-see for anyone who appreciates the 1950s era). Some pics below of his buildings. In the condo I snagged, everything except the kitchen (dang-it!) is completely un-renovated, un-updated, and thats a blessing. But isn't the neighbor's pink one awesome? Jeff I'm very into the turquoise, but would take the pink if a great condition one popped up somewhere.

So I've been trying for the past 10 days to get in touch with the craigslist 9ft turquoise seller - but with absolutely no luck. Can't get a response to emails, can't figure it out - the listing actually expired and was re-listed during that time period so ....it all seems weird. Anyway, as it turns out, the space in the kitchen where the WK would be installed was custom built to receive the earlier(?) approx 7ft(?) version (like the pink one) and so the craigslist 9-footer wouldn't work anyway. But I'm dead set on getting one! Thanks to all for keeping look-out.

Paul, was there ever a version that had both the wash/dry combo as well as dishwasher? Now that would be the ultimate for me. Did the dryer really dry well or just quasi-dry?...I find today's combo units pitiful when it comes to drying. I love your WK by the way, set-off against that beautiful wood...
