Thanks Mark

That load's getting a good wash

Also sounds very similar to a machine I have in the garage from about 2000/2001 `Hoover 1200 Special Edition' which is a very uninteresting machine. I quite like the look of that Candy will you be sad to see it go or are you just focusing on the exciting new purchase?

PS I see you are using Persil tablets (or possibly Surf I guess) can I enquire (cos I'm a nosy git) which ones you were using and if any which softener you you used? I'm a big fan of Persil tabs.

PPS Tonight at home I had some `bad' luck - my sister in law has family arriving this weekend and brought me round four loads of laundry to do because she couldn't cope with doing it in her washer dryer. Poor me - life's tough....;-)

Mark - nice machine! Not bad for what you paid for it, either, and the rinse level isn't bad either on top of that :-). It's great how modern Hoovers and Candy's still have that classic motor noise the New Wave's had, too.

Nick/Adam - thanks both for your texts, don't think I'm ignoring you as I need to top up my phone so haven't been able to reply :-)

Hey Nick / Jon

Nick I dont mind you asking at all.
I was using Persil biological tablets for that wash. I had loads of them as they were on offer at the cash and carry. I used the last packet this morning so now I have no Biological.....aaahhhh.I was impressed with the tablets but I dont usually go for persil.Like Jon has mentioned before they are really good at rinsing though and I was impressed with the cleaning.Im going for Ariel next but cant decide on tablets or big box powder.I was using Fairy softner aswell and thats now finished aswell ...ahhh no bio or conditioner!...Anyway it was horrible stuff and I wont be buying it again. I didnt like the smell it was awful.I only got it because like the Persil it was on offer and I had never tried it.Got 2 big 5 litre bottles so am very pleased it is now finished at last.I will be getting comfort next time as thats my favourite.

I will be in a way sad to leave the Candy as it does wash really well and does rinse well (If you use the "super rinse" button) But I wont miss the 2 and a half hour - 3 hour wash cycles!!! I cant wait to use the top loader and get a lot of washing out on the line in the morning rather than having the Candy going all day for a few loads!

Jon thanks for your comments. It was a good price and has been worth it in my opinion.I have been surprised with how good it has been seeing it was a cheap machine to sell with the house.

I'm with you

I don't much care for the Fairy fabric softener. It used to be called Lenor sensitive. Luke my son can't tolerate any of that on his skin - the rule seems to be `no scent of Lenor is good' but `all scents of Comfort are fine'. It's something in the formulations with him and doesn't matter much if it's a baby smell or a floral smell or whatever.

It's a shame the Persil bio tabs are no more - I used them as my main bio detergent. Unfortunately Luke reacted to the gel tabs - I'm not quite sure what's different - the scent is stronger that's about it. And whatever that blue stuff's made of I guess.....

What's your fave Comfort scent? I think they're all nice apart from the granny cremes which are just wrong. I tend to prefer to use blue or white softeners - just a psychological thing, I don't want to wash whites and then dump a cap of bogey green stuff on to them....i dunno......... so I guess I like pure and blue the best. Followed by Purple - very non offensive and almost aromotherapy like I think, the pink is a great scent but a little feminine, the yellow is a bit sicky....... The Easy Iron stuff is OK but it doesn't `do it for me'(man) You know what I mean?

Hey Nick

My favourite comforts are Blue,Pink then Yellow.Ive never used the purple or white before.
Ive never really been a fan of lenor but I did use to and still occasionally use the yellow one..summer breeze or something i think its called. The comfort creme ones ive never used because they cost so much!! Im sure they only do the same as regular I would guess but im not sure.

Jon was mentioning the old persil tablets were better than the new gel ones.Ive never used the gel ones so cant comment but why do thes manufacturers always have to mess around with a good product?

It dosent surprise me that Luke is not good with Lenor as it is quite potent and feels like it leaves a lot of chemicals on the clothes.

Now whats the best type of conditioner?....Regular..Or...Concentrate?

I find on the old machines because the fabric conditioner bit is always small Lenor concentrate was good because it was more liquid.I had problems with comfort concentrate because its so thick. It wouldnt always get flushed properly.I prefer comfort though but using regular I couldnt get enough in to give good enough results for me.
