We have been trying to decide the best FL washer, dryer to buy.
Can I ask what everyone's opinion is ?

Frigidaire Affinity,FL
Kenmore Elite,FL
Whirlpool duet,FL
LG-Tromm, FL

also, is it neccessary to use HE detergent in FL's?

Thanks!

There is a rating of washing machines in a recent issue of Consumer Reports. You might want to check that, although there are times that we all wonder what they use for brains. Some here have reported poor repair service from LG. Look closely at the frequency of repair data. At least the other three brands have established service networks. If you are going for a front loader, it is best to have it on a concrete floor or a beefed-up wood floor. The new WP Duet Sport is said to have a suspension system that lessens the vibration transferred to a wood floor system, but a friend said it drove him crazy with how long it took to evenly distribute a load for spin. The drain pump motors seem extra noisy in front loaders, possibly more noticeable because during wash they are very quiet.

HE detergent is very necessary in these washers. They do not like suds, especially when they try to spin. If you can find powder formula Tide HE, you can mix it half and half with other Tide powder products and still have the foaming controlled. In some cases, that can save you money. Clip the Tide coupons from the Sunday paper advertising inserts and watch Target (and some WALMARTS)ads for sales. If you like liquids, there are many from which to choose.

When you say Kenmore Elite, is that the HE2?

I know the HE2 is nott part of the Elite line. I surmise from this the new HE2T will not be part of the Elite line either. He's meaning the HE3T and He4T.
