Beatty, as in Beatty Brothers of Fergus, Ontario; the makers of the first automatic washing machines sold in Canada. IIRC they had their start in commercial laundries. Over the years Beatty Bros made not only washing machines, but dryers, ironers/mangles and other commercial and residental laundry appliances sold on both sides of the border. Had a table top mangle from them, that I sold on to a hospital in Hawaii. Beatty Bros. applinaces turn up quite often on eBay, and were/are very common in the mid-west and states close to the border. Does that answer your question? Launderess |

That birthing table just plain scares me to death. Cannot blame any single or other woman who has not had children from running screaming in the opposite direction! *LOL* If that thing could talk! It must have come from a hospital or lying in hospital as it is way to large to be carried about to women about to deliver. Have seen smaller vintage "birthing chairs" which were either carried about by mid-wives/doctors to women about deliver, or were kept in familes and sent to a woman's home as her confinement approached.
