A friend of mine is interested in purchasing the Bosch front load
washer and dryer set. Any thoughts on the Bosch or a better product?

new washer

Hi
I defenately do not recommend Bosch. my neighbor across the street from me has the Bosch W/D and Dishwasher and all I see is the repair people their at least once a week. She tells me that she has never had appliances that badley made since the late 70's Westinghouse. She has put an add in the paper and sold them to a builder and tells me that she is glad to see them gone!! they were only 1 1/2 years old and has had 34 service calls and that should tell you something. Stay away from LG as well they have no service or very little.
Any whow I would recommend the Frigidaire front load washer and dryer. I have had them for two years now and very pleased with them and the performance. I bought the Gallery series with the controals mounted on the back pannel of the machines. price was excellant to only $820.00 for boath. I goutght them at Pacfic Sales and they have very good service policy. hope this of help to you. WCD63

Love my Bosch 3200

I have had a Bosch 3200 for 3 months and I really like it! I cannot attest to the longevity, but the cleaning is so much better than my 22yo Maytag TL, without even trying. I have none of the complaints that I read on some boards. My wash does not tangle (maybe because the Bosch reverses during the wash?), it is quiet and it rinses out all detergent smell. I opted for the 3200 right before the new models (500) came out, as being new to FLs, I was worried about even less water usage and the changes they might make. I also bought from an appliance dealer that I have used for 22 years and had NO installation problems. They even brought a level, which seems rare according to some posts. I do not expect it to last as long as my previous machine, but so far I am really happy. I have read many more good comments than bad on the Bosch, FWIW.

Bob -

I cannot claim any direct connections to the Bosch machines, most of my clients have LG or Whirlpool f/l sets. I have the lower-end Duet washer & matching gas dryer and love them, 2 1/2 years with no trouble of any kind. For the money, I think the WP is probably the best deal and if your friend can play Lowes and NFM against one another, a super good deal can be had. I paid less than $1200 for both with pedestals/drawer units.

A neighbor just bought a WP Duet Sport washer a few months ago and is thrilled with it. Whirlpool has an established, trained service network and parts are plentiful for their units.

You can bring your friends over and do a "trial load" in the Duet, but they'll probably end up wanting a 1957 Unimatic ;-)

Avoid GE!

I know it's not related to Bosch, but AVOID GE! My mother just got a matched GE front loader set. I think her logic was that it looked pretty. The dryer does a respectable job in about half an hour for most loads. The washer, however, takes over an hour! Words cannot express my hatred of this washer. I wish she had just gotten the dryer and kept the 1994 Kenmore DD she replaced. I think that the Kenmore and Whirlpool DD washers are just about the best value on the market today.

Just my 2 cents,
Dave
