I am very cautious to look at this web page since I believe this is your first posting on the site, and the web addy has the word `spy' in the title. Please elaborate for us, Mr. Sphey.

Nick - a Bendix Standard is the first model Bendix produced in the 1930s and 1940s, with no square cabinet i.e. the cylinder was part of the unit and curved at the top. (Sort of like modern Milnor washers).

The "Standard" model was made from about 1938 through 1949-50 (?) and looks similar to this one of mine. Earlier models had a black porcelain surface on the outside of the drum and black lower 'cabinet' at the bottom. Since they were made for a number of years, before and after WWII, they are still found fairly regularly now. Pre-war models might have a little more value depending on condition simply because of their historical interest.

Bendix protects you from tragic washday accidents!

Pre-war, 1940 models. The Deluxe, cabinet version is illustrated as well.

Hey Spey why don't you post the pictures of your Bendix to this thread, we would love to see it.

Thanks for the response Mr Spey

and for the information and ad, greg.

I hope my initial caution did not offend, I recently had to spend out on my computer because of `spyware' and am perhaps am overly cautious now of anything with `spy' or `track' etc in the title!

It has also been known for people to sign up here just to pedal their wares - a month or two ago someone went on super forum to try and sell us a washball or something......

Good luck with your sale and as Robert says I'd love to see some pictures posted here too!

Nick

Hi guys. I already have one of these although it has been in Dr. Manny's shop for while waiting for new tub bearings to be installed. I asked Manny to first work on the Thor and now on the Blackstone but he did promise to get the Bendix fixed and back to me.

Ross, yes!

That was a FUN machine to witness in person, even if its spin was rather like a freight train pulling into the station.

I'm sure magcal Dr. Manny will make it purr like a kitten again.
