I recently went to epinions.com and looked at the Whirlpool model # DU930PWPQ built-in dishwasher(the one we just bought)and read the reviews-and none of them were very good. They talked about poor plate clearance from upper wash arm, soap deposits on dishes, a small silverware basket capacity, an error in the order of the installation instructions, and a broken silverware basket door hanger. Does anyone out there own this particular model dishwasher, and if so, does it really have those problems? Any information would greatly help me.

It's one of the "old-fashioned" Whirlpool PowerClean dishwashers. One of the best performing ever made. The cleaning complaints may be because they use the normal cycle (which in old days as light wash--one wash & two rinses). Better to use Heavy Wash (2 washes & two rinses0--plus the temp boost option on. I can't address the door/silverware basket issue though. Some of these models do have the abilkity to raise & lower the top rack just a bit, depends on the configuration from the particular retail outlet. Manhy of us here are fans of this old PowerClean system. Not anyuthing like what's used on their TallTub dishwasher models.

I can't speak about this particular machine,

but most detergent problems can be avoided by using FRESH detergent, and storing it well sealed in a dry place.

Storing powdered dishwasher detergent under the sink is easy, but not a good idea.

plastic tub dishwashers

Something else I was wanting to know about this particular dishwasher is that will the plastic tub hold up to the years of use I plan on putting it through?

The plastic tub in this dishwasher seems much more durable then the tall tub models. I would imagine it is waranteed for at least ten years or better.

I have an older portable WP dishwasher with the 'power clean' module and enameled tub and it kicks some serious butt....you should have great results with this machine.

Happy dishwashing.

plastic ribbed drain hoses

I've also heard on an appliance repair website that the ribbed plastic drain hoses many dishwasher manufacturers use are notorious for leaking where the hose bends-splits and leaks. This new Whirlpool dishwasher we bought has this type drain hose that came with it-we cannot afford another leaking dishwasher as our old one rotted our floor! Help!
