Love the timer assembly at the top. Bet that makes some clicks and chunks. You say 100 lbs?

Lee, I have never seen a big washer like that with the suds level window below the door. Fascinating. When the program on the drum behind the curved cover called for an additive, did it buzz and stop everything until the operator flipped the reset switch and manually added the required ingredients through the chute on the right? Is the drain pipe 3 or 4 inches in diameter? I see the thermometer. Normally a laundry has a good supply of very hot water. Unless we are talking hospital laundry, there would not need to be steam coils in this machine to boost wash water temperature, would there?

I remember discovering the on premises laundries in motels where we stayed during the summer. I would park myself outside the double doors and enjoy watching. I would eventually be asked if I needed anything and would let them all know that I just liked to watch the machines. They were generally cool with that. This was back when the motels changed bed linen every day so there was lots of laundry.

Best wishes in your project to save this great old machine.
Tom

oh child now that is a washer!

Does it require 3-phase power?
and/or 277-480v ?

Wonder if it spins/extracts or if that went to a dedicated piece of machinery!

Keep us posted as this baby gets renovated!

Answers to your Questions

I t does use direct steam to heat water if needed . Ant the timer does stop and hold until you push the cancel button then if resumes . a very Loud bell will let you know when it comes to a supply stop. It is 3 phase it has a old Master Motor that is still almost silent .. Until it reverses then there is a nice whine for 5 seconds while it restarts . It does not extract Prosperity made a machine that extracted the last 2 years they were in business .. They were bought out in 1960 by Troy Laundry Machinery . Troy Was bought out in 1979 By Ecolab and run into the ground. This machine was in the Baker Hotel in Mineral Wells Texas there were 6 of them. The formulas were set to produce a load every 24 min. So when you added load and unload time you got a 100lb load ever 30 mins. One machine was used for tablelinen and it had a 45 min cycle on it. the main plant was set up to handle 1000 lbs per hour. I worked there as a washboy when I was 15 ,

Wow! How on Earth would you move that behemoth? Very cool, though; glad you're trying to save it. I love the piano-roll timer. Does it play any Scott Joplin?
