Looks more like

an early-mid 70s to me.

Wish the seller had included an interior shot, and more information.

I remember having one of these in harvest gold in a rental house back in the 80's. I don't remember too much about it but it was a good cleaner.

This is the second time I have seen this one on craigslist. I wonder why it hasn't sold yet?

Second time around? I'm surprised it hasn't sold either. The Whirlpool Powerclean dishwashers, while a bit on the noisy side (powerful, roar-noisy instead of a steady whine, with the added sound of clinking glasses and water crashing around), have EXTRAORDINARY cleaning ability. I've mentioned to Bob before that at a future wash-in, a "clean-off" should take place between a Powerclean and a KitchenAid to determine the REAL winner.

I also like the pump/motor configuration with these as well; the motor simply reverses to drain, eliminating a drain valve as one of the major causes of a leak.

I remeber that KA, WP and GE used to have a drain-line solenoid, and that the various incarnations of D&M had the reversing motor to drain their machines.

When did WP go from one style to the other?

Hey Steve,

How are you? W/P always used a reversing motor to drain and wash, as far as I can tell, as did D&M.

I had one in Phoenix in the late 70s..

...and if it is the same it did not have a water source for the upper rack.

Greetings John/Coldspost66!

OOPSIE, I thought I remembered my aunt's mid 60-s WP DW (with the telephone-style timer dial) having a continuously running motor.

The bottom of the tub, IIRC resembles today's Euoro-style dishwashers, right down to the removable filter/glass-trap.

Appears I am mistaken. :-)

Well,

if the owner would at least shake a rag in the direction of this dusty old machine, he would have a few more interested parties. Plus he could do with some better photography.
It looks kinda early 70's to me too.

Toggle, I think I remember Turbomatic saying the early WP wash-arm dishwashers did have the drain solenoid instead of reversing motor. That would have included your Aunts. But I odn't know when they changed.
