Not sure if these are any thing special, or should be in the Deluxe section.

Is that the 24" model?

These are the standard-issue 27" version. I WISH they had been the compact/portable pair, but you still don't see these models everyday. Just out of curiosity, I opened my 1981 Wards catalog up, turned a couple of pages in the "washers" section, and there they were! The fourth model down the line, with 8 cycles, 4 temperature combinations, and 2 speeds. Still has that 3/4 HP motor though.

I can't really tell if that's harvest gold or almond, having never seen the Monkey Wards version of it. The 1985 pair in the home-ec lab at my school is almond, and it's not that intense, but perhaps it's just the way the picture was taken...

These would be nice, provided that I had more room! Will have to think hard about these.

Considering how rarely these units come up, if any member could swing the purchase/storage am sure somewhere down the line they'd m ake a good swap. Am not demanding or anything, just seems not more than a few weeks/months after Montgomery Wards/Norge appliances come and go, someone is posting a request for them.

Also considering this is supposed to be the "land of rust", these units look in pretty darn good shape, at least from what one can see. Maybe someone could contact the seller for more snaps?

If you'll fetch them, they can live in my garage. :-)

"If you'll fetch them, they can live in my garage."

If that's the case, I'll even throw in a Kenmo' as well! ;-)

A Montgomery Ward Flocking Machine!

Win the auction and drop the dryer at a Goodwill or behind Lowes on your way home. You don't have room for it and even if you make room for it, the inside of your washer-room will look like this in no time!

The washer is very cool though, very fun to play with!

Does that mean I should prepare to rearrange my garage?

Lawd have mercy!!

No more room, no more time, no more money!! Who will stop Westy's insanity? LOL I suppose we can all bring our Christmas trees into the laundry studio for some holiday flocking! ;-)

I do have to admit, I'm a sucker for that Norge burpolator action!

On second thought, you could bring the dryer to Glenn's - if you've never experienced one, it has it's own personality. The shudder and rumble of it starting up, blowing socks at you when you open the door while it's running...

And Glenn's house looks a little too clean - it could use more dust ;-)

Actually, Glenn's car is a little too clean. A little extra dust film on the windows will help!!! Will definitely dry those Calypso-BobLoads of jeans very well!!!

Isn't this like the 8.0 cu. ft. Norge drum? This looks like a full-size pair.

Lint machines

I'm assuming they did away with that design sometime in the mid-80's? I forgot to mention that when I was playing with the school's set (and when no one was there, LOL), I opened the dryer and noticed that it didn't have the row of holes all around the back of the drum like the basement-flockers did. Instead, there was a heater outlet at the top, similar to the later Norge/Performa dryers. I turned the dryer on with the door open, and the air was going in by the lint filter. So, by 1985, they had the "vacu-dry" setup, but I'm still curious as to when the old design disappeared for good...

"Does that mean I should prepare to rearrange my garage?"

Yes, but for something else...something you will have lots of fun with for quite some time, considering you've never had this type of machine yet...:)

YAY!

More pictures have been posted, and the washer appears to be in better cosmetic shape than the dryer. They do look more almondy-white than Harvest Gold to me, and I have to wonder if the lint filter pan/FS dispenser is MIA...

Is that a "Ramones" lunch box in the background? If so, may need to do a sweep of the place. *LOL*

Uh oh, I don't recognize the buyer's "handle".

Post# 169047 , Reply# 27   11/21/2006 at 20:31 (6,362 days old) by westytoploader ()

Yeah, some idiot clicked the BIN, damn. I hope it leaks oil all over their clothes! (Insert evil laugh here)

However, they were NOT Harvest Gold like the seller said, weren't exactly the TOL set, and I don't think the washer had the lint filter either. Also, they were a 6-hour drive away, so I'm not *that* bummed out about not getting them. An older, BETTER machine is bound to turn up in the future.

If it was the TOL "Wards Best" model, with the pre-spot button and detergent dispenser, I would have sprung for those!
