I thought it best to ask this question separately rather than having it buried in thread #8067. It might belong under the "Imperial" discussions but since we're already on the subject here at "Deluxe" here goes:

My sister has an older KA Superba, I'm guessing it's 70's vintage. It came with her house but she hardly ever used it until somebody advised her to use it or lose it.

She's complaining that it leaves what she describes as "moldy/mildewy" spots on glassware and a "scummy film" on the plates, etc.

I suspect these problems may be associated with lack of use. Any ideas on what might be the cause and a possible solution? I may take a crack at it when I pay her a visit in a few weeks if it's an easy fix.

Thanks for any advice,
Ralph

Run one or more cleaning cycles on the machine -- normal cycle, no dishes, get a couple bottles of JetDry dishwasher cleaner, or GlassMagic or other such vinegar or citric acid type cleaner. Or let it run to the 3rd fill (main wash), then add a couple cups of white vinegar. Pull out the wash arm and filter, check if anything needs cleaning. Look under the edge of the door inside the tub, there could be a build-up of grease & scum.

Also make sure the liquid rinse agent dispenser is filled. The spots and filming could also be related to hard water conditions.

Thanks Dad, I will try those things when I visit that machine (and my sister) in a few weeks.
