Right im a modern man and im not shy to say finding this has just sent a stream of tears down my cheeks.

So many memories from my childhood.

Adverts from 1988

For Darren maybe - Ariel Liquid in a Hoover Logic with the Ariel Ball I love so much! The original one!

Ariel Powder, how I used to love that advert with all them washing machines stacked in a factory, Ariel the essential component LOL

Fairy Snow although I dont remeber that ad

And For Stratus- A Phillips washer ad!

And finally my favourite vacuum cleaner Ad all in the same link - The Vax my parents had briefly inbetween my Mums first Moulinex Upright and the Hoover Turbomaster TOL Upright.

Mum had the Vax when a radiator in our house sprang a leak and wrote off a brand new living room carpet.
Like myself Mum does not get on with cylinders and after a couple of months the Vax was banished to the garage for cleaning the cars out and cleaning the carpets although they were never as good as the advert shows.
Scandalous!

Nick

The Vax did sterling service until last year when Mum replaced it with the XL Vax Upright cleaner after I bought A Vax Rapide with rotating brushbar for the white carpet Sarah and myself had in our new house.

These machines are very impressive with their cleaning.

Thankgod for upright carpet washers.

Ebay DVD of old catalogues

robm's profile picture
Hi Nick

I love looking at old things. Someone on Ebay is selling a DVD with old catalogues on. They date from, 1959, 1974 and 1990. It's only a few quid. I got one and it's fascinating for the price of a sandwich.

I can't get the link to work but if you type Grattan Catalogue it will come up.

Are the ads you are talking about on youtube?

Rob

Here is the link, Sorry guys In had to compose myself slightly.
Having a bad day.

Had some other news yesterday about my Brother moving to Glasgow last week and nobody even thought to tell me he was going.
This has kinda driven a wedge again between my Parents and myself.

He comes back at weekends though, when Im working. Poor guy is only 18 and has no idea how to do a thing for himself.

I have asked so many times if anyone else remembers that ad and not had a reply yet about it!!!!

The washer was a Liberator that turned into a 95 series WD

Great animation!

Was about 1988 or so.

I loved the music to it which was kinda like the elephant march in the Disney film dumbo.

I remember how an arm of a shirt slipped out of the door to set the dryer times and then slid back in before the door shut.

If you find it before I do let me know and I will love you forever LOL

Neil I have tried many variations of Hotpoint, washer dryer etc and all that comes up is an ad for a hotpoint dishwasher.

I wonder if ringing Hotpoint up they may be able to point me somewhere.

I mean they must have an advertising dept where someone could help me.

Hotpoint Washer Dryer advert

Right.

Ive just had a lenghty phonecall to Indesit Company's Marketing dept and they are getting back to me in a short while.

They remeber the Advert themselves and they are finding out if they have a copy of it and if they do, how to get it to me.

May be on to a winner.

Hotpoint Customer Service......

LOL Nick......

I remember in 2003 when my 6 week old Hotpoint Ultima WMA75 pile of sh*** was sparking and jumping across the kitchen (Sophie was 8 months pregnant), a Merloni rep screamed down the phone at me `You can't have a new machine just 'cos you feel like it'!!!

There had already been about three service calls, the engineer had replaced the PCB, the door glass (scratched to buggery from the drum thrashing about) and I think something on the motor to do with balancing......

Great ads, Nick. :-) Lovely memories. :-)

nickuk Nick (hehe), we were really cheeky with the Hotpoint WD860P that went wrong in August. This sounds bad, but they had a look at it and said it had been faulty from the start, so we rejected it. It was dead – PCB dead!

Because it was faulty from the start, we were entitled to a refund. End of.

They wouldn’t budge, so we went ahead and bought the Miele anyway because Mum basically said “I am NOT being without a washing machine” (Mum’s a timid mouse actually, but she roared when it came to this!) and asked them to collect the Hotpoint. They did in the end, but it wasn’t half stressful.

Like with you and Sophie, it was a very stressful situation given our circumstances.

As I have said to you on MSN before, I pleaded with them in the end to take it away. They did after I wrote about four pages of A4 detailing the faults and quoting the Government’s Consumer Direct website.

Trading Standards, however, told us we couldn’t have our money back. I was sure they were wrong – they were! The Consumer Direct website was/is far better, even though some of their information is taken from Trading Standards.

Dad dealt with the phone calls, and I just sat here when I could putting e-mails together. It was very tiring, and we are *never, ever* having anything like that again – no more Hotpoint/Indesit/Ariston.

Did you know there are adverts for Currys in the papers that advertise Ariston machines? Under the Ariston logo, it says, “From the makers of Hotpoint”. Lovely.

LOL

I'm sorry for your troubles, both of you. Should not happen.

Who manufactures the "Aqualtis" machines I've seen in other threads, and where? Are they improved over the "Ultima" machines?

Darren,

Not sure if you remember them ads but although I was only 4 years old, that Ariel Powder Ad sticks so well in my mind....

I could never work out what the machines stacked in the factory were, oh how I tried! but now ive seen it again sadly they are just Computer Generated Nothings....

I would also like to see the Lenor one where the Mum washes her sons duvet cover when he is poorly (Hoover Logic and dryer in that one) and then shakes the duvet over him in bed.

The patten on the duvet was a country scene with flowers in a field that came to life. more animation.... great ad.

Nick,

I saw that Lenor commercial yesterday in one of those videos! It's somewhere in the older videos, the ones with the fully description of which commercials are in there.
