When did they stop making the round-top Bendixes?

Or, were they making both at the same time and this one was, maybe, the larger or "more deluxe" model? There used to be a laundry in San Francisco on Hyde Street that had a whole row of the porthole-shaped round Bendixes and still had the wooden 1940's style block letters spelling out LAUNDERETTE, but all the machines were the round tops.

Good luck with the Bendix, this was the very first washer I "dreamed" of when I was a young kid swiping ads from my aunts old magazines. I wanted a front-loader in the worst way!

I'll look around I may have the service manual for that model and can make a copy for you.
Was it still bolted down in place or could you walk out with it?
Which reminds me I was talking to someone on the club last fall before our crazy Christmas Rush and they wanted a copy of a service manual I had.. who was that I forgot! Put up a post or shoot me an email and I'll get the copies out for you.

Excellent work Kim!! Here is a scan of a Bendix spec sheet for your washer - have fun and keep us posted on the progress. The door on my Standard model washer (without the cabinet) is pretty tight closing too - I hope that means your gasket seal is in perfect shape!

Congrats Kim on your new "baby"! Now you've got something to keep you busy on those upcoming long winter nights! *LOL*

Really glad you and the seller were able to come to terms. Think many sellers have visions of their "finds" going for vast sums. But, when you are speaking of heavy vintage appliances and not willing to ship (can't blame them), then you are pretty much dealing with a limited local market.

Think it is grand yet another beautiful machine was saved from the krusher and given a chance to it's stuff.

Best of luck, Kim.

You Go Girl!

Yay Kim! Congrats on the new arrival! I love the deco look to it. It's also fun to watch it wash; quieter than I thought it would be. Wish Westy would keep his, but someone is interested in it. Enjoy it :)

Bendix Service Manual

Jetcone:

Think Westytoploader might have been talking to you about that Bendix Service Manual. I'll find out.

Kim, congratulations on your new vintage Bendix! I'm very relieved that machine didn't end up as krusher food.

There are quite a few of us around here who have worked on them so you should be able to get plenty of help if you need it with your restoration.
