Had a chance to get a fairly new Asko DW this weekend. The store owner told me it came in the day before, traded on a new KA.The original owners said it quit working, and the wife(gasp!) HAD TO DO DISHES BY HAND! They didn't want the old one looked at,they wanted a new one.Right now. Looked like a well built DW,with stainless front, and a black inside,in contrast to the usual white. kennyGF |

I like mine. It does an incredible job on the dishes, and all you hear is a little water swishing. Plus, it's almost like an all-in-one DishDrawer--you can fit (and clean) almost anything in the top rack that goes in the bottom. The build quality is incredible. BUT The parts are expensive, and if the control board is what's burned out, they cost as much as the average new dishwasher. So, if it's something you can mess with and see if it's something simple, cool; if you find out that it's the electronic control board, and you don't have a donor, it may not be worth the investment to you. Also, check the quality of the racks in it. They sometimes seem to have problems with rust and missing tines rather early on in their lives. --Nate |

The Magic Chef is still intact. The Maytag portable is still harvest gold and may just go back to the thrift store. The Asko was a separate acquisition and it's a long story. It's not installed in the apartment. Believe it or not, it showed up in the thrift store :-) I'll get some pics and post a thread on it later on :-D |

Ahhh, the 'Tag! I forgot all about that one. I'd like to see a picture of the Asko. Is it a newer model? |
