I am posting this thread to share some appliances I have to club members. I have a garage full of washers/dryers and a couple of dishwashers that I need to let go of. They all do need some work, some need water valves, some have minor leaks and so on. My partner and I have ventured into Foster parenting over the last year and have been graced with over 6 children, most of them we will adopt. With this being said my time that I do have and it is very little is spent catching up. So I would like to offer them to the members or if any other people you may know of that would want them so i don't have to send them to the crusher. The reality is I will not be able to give them the attention and time they need ot refurbish them.
Hope they can find new homes
Glenn
I live in Warrington, Pa 18976
I am posting a few pics to let you see what I have

This is what happens when you have a "savior syndrome" and just can't say "no". Looks like my storage unit. And my spare bedroom. And my dining room.

You have 2 or 3 machines that i would love to have....but considering i'm in Oz....i think freight is going to be a bit too expensive...but there's always the credit card of course.....!

Seriously, any of you guys know of good freight companies for overseas removals?? It couldn't hurt to get a quote....

Bless you for your choice to care for some of the most needy and sadly, forgotten in our society. I became a Foster Parent for a 3 1/2 year old, blond-haired, blue-eyed little boy in 1997, adopted him in 2000 and it's truly been the best experience of my life. I wish you all the best!

This is my son Skyler - now 13

I am becoming a Guardian Ad Litem.. Or a Court appointed child advocate.. I would love to have kids at some point, but who knows when.....

Are there any machines with simple repairs?? Esp. any frigidaire, wpools or kenmore? Just curious

Dan, those Kenmores were a variant of coppertone. I hope someone here can remember the eact appropriate name for that color.

My Aunt had a set of appliances (the whole shebang: Washer/Dryer, Fridge, Stove) in that coppertone-ish color. When they transfered to Offutt AFB, they lived in officer housing which had appliances already. Due to some regulation, she had to surrender her appliances to the Air Force for the duration that they were living in base housing (I guess so that if they moved out quickly and took the appliances, the AF would have a replacement set?)

Anyway, she was really irritated that her precious coppertone appliances were locked up and she had to deal with the other color. They bought a house off-base not long after that.

That is a very cute picture of Skyler, Greg. And I suppose you were sitting on the sofa, sipping lemonaide, while the poor dear was just slaving away??? :)

Glenn, those are some nice machines, I'm glad they're getting a new home! Congratulations Graham!

Greg, I know that helping Dad with remodeling is always fun when you're young, and I can tell Skyler's enjoying the work! Now you just need to give him the new Sawzall to get rid of that nasty nail-filled board and he'll have a BLAST! ;-)

I can't even use a Jig saw....
Nobody ever bothered to teach me...
Now if you want some one to use a Vaccume Truck (or parking lot sweeper) Thats another story...

Glad some ones able to help save em

I have also seen alot of that copper color around here.. Esp. in stoves and cooktops.. As a mater of fact, the original ge cooktop and oven that where in the attic where coppertone... I wish i'd saved em... But i did not have room or the patience..

Good reason to let go

Glenn, best wishes with your family plans. You'll make a significant difference for these kids. As for your current 'children' in the garage, someone should start a rollermatic collection! How many of those of wonderful old Frigi's do you have?

Bob (Appnut), are you going to try and get a couple of those? Unfortunately, I don't have the room or time...
Kelly

Kelly if I had the $$$ to ship I would. Plus, I have absolutely no mechanical aptitude and am tontally inept. My 8 other thumbs are disguised as fingers.

What's the next level below inept?

Ten thumbs, I know what you mean. I could strip the threads changing a light bulb. Fortunately, others here share their restoration success stories and photos. I've learned SO much.
Thanks, everyone!

Thanks for the great response everyone. Greg, Skyler is a very lucky young man to have you as I am sure you feel lucky as well to have him.
As far as inventory goes, I have 1-18 Frigidaires and dryers as well. The inventory is going fast, I already had 7 go today to a great home.

Glenn & Gus

You guys are the most generous and hospitable people i know. YAY for making awesome new friends. I looked at the wringer i have and it is a turquoise "The Homestead" By Spiegel Inc. Chicago, Illinios. Model CB1 Serial # 044618

It works great, my grandfather rewired it and we polished her up. It's yours, it's the least i can do for all the wonderful machines you gave me.

Fresh air kids! We have a program to "adopt" a kid from urban NYC to come spend the summer in upstate NY, and since I have a place on a lake up here, you have inspired me to do this.

Morning all,
The pic to the right of the freestar is actually a portable dishwasher that is sitting on top of a machine. No frontloaders in this collection.
As far as the coppertones, they are a 700 model that have already been claimed.
Have a good day all
Glenn

A question........

Would you happen to have a 1955 or a 1956 Modern Maid portable dishwasher? I'm from PA. too.

I think what you are doing is wonderful....

Must be sad to see the appliances go, but I cant think of a reason better than yours!

Gansky...way to go!

I probably know the answer to this one, but.... I don't suppose the control tower Frigidare is still there? I have access to a minivan, and I'm not so far from PA! =)
