I've been picking up quite a few BD Kenmore,and Whirlpool machines these last few months. Ya know,they don't make them anymore.....

Good for a starter home?

Smart shoppers starting a home would know that new machines could be had for that price. AWO members starting a home would know that they could get older better machines for less. IMHO...the seller is smoking something.
