Ok..
Grams and I had where having this whole big long talk about the dishwasher..Some how we got on to her old dishwashers and on to he GE washer from either 1963 or 1964.. These have belts correct? I am not sure of this my self and am curious..She swesrs up down right and left that her friends all told her to buy a GE because it had no belts and it was quite diffrent and would last her for a long time (which it did, she had it until she moved to atlanta in 1983, when it sadly got stolen by there movers).. Just curious as to the diffrences... This is also for her too.. She said she would love to have another one like it, but by the time she got her new one in 1983 (a mid line Kenmore i killed in 1997, not knowing its value at the time)GE had changed and she no longer liked them. But she wanted to know why it lasted...She over loads the washer, uses way to much soap and abuses them.
Now i do laundry is she is banned from my Frigisdaire Affinity

IIRC, GE's had belts. Not only from motor to transmission but also a small leather "apron" belt to pump. That didn't change until the 90's. Here's a POD from 1964 to illustrate:
