I'm in a rental with an 10 year old Frigidaire dishwasher which will fill and drain but not spray. I think the upper impeller is jammed. I don't have an instruction book. Have been on Frigidaire's website and they have a use/care book but no parts list. Emailed Frigidaire (props to them) yesterday at 7 pm and had a response at 6:30 am this morning to say "no parts list available...but he indicated that he could help me with a specific assembly (door, timer, motor, ...).

I think I figured out why Frigidaire doesn't have the information...this is actually a D&M dishwasher which came out between their last porcelain dishwashers (the ones with the pull-out grille at the back of the washtub...btw these were hidden gems--had one in an apartment that was great) and their new plastic design (made in the Kinston plant with the small circular lift-out filter next to the wash hub)

This is a plastic d/w, overhead spray, fixed tower in lower rack, lower wash arm raises to engage the fixed tower. It has "filtered wash" which means that directly under the lower wash arm is a round fine-mesh filter attached to a white plastic lower assembly, which fits into the sump. Drainage comes from the sump, water is distributed sucked in from the fine-mesh filter.

Annnyway, long story is that this is a better d/w than what the landlord would probably replace it with. I'm sure that Sears (among others) sold a zillion of them, and I just wondered if anyone had a suggestion to find a parts list so I can take it apart easily (or figure out to throw in the towel).

Wow!

Within 20 minutes of sending my request (to a real person!!!) they sent back the exact shot of what I needed.

SUUUPER props to Frigidaire. LG could learn a thing or 2.

My message at 7 last night

Comments = I need the exploded parts diagram for this dishwasher...it is your "old" design (i.e. not a Kinston design). If you could send me a model number to use to access it online that's all I need.
The model brings up the correct use and care book, and I just need the parts diagram from a similar model

Their response at 6 this morning

Hello James,
Unfortunately, there is not a parts diagram available for this old model.
If there is a certain part of the dishwasher you need to look at (ie:
console, door or motor) , I will make up one to send you, Let me know

My response at 8:45 this morning

I need the motor/pump information...unit will drain but will not spray.
I assume there are 2 impellers and the top one is frozen/broken, and just need the exploded diagram/parts list. This dishwasher is from just before you changed design (I believe it's a D&M design rather than Kinston), and is rather high-line (filtered wash).

and their response at 9:17

Hi Jamie,

You are right. The design is the old D&M (where I came from) but it was manufactured here in Kinston before we went to the new Precision Wash design in 1996. I am attaching an exploded view of the motor assy & a matching parts list for the view. Let me know if you have trouble opening them. Have a great Holiday.

That's a great story. Hopefully you will find what you need to get it up and running again. It's a great feeling to save something from the scrap heap. Do you have any pictures you could post of your dishwasher?

Patrick
