the '59 has the stainless steel bow-tie impeller vs. the previous black bakelite one. This is a bottom of the line basic machine and I found it interesting that there is an aluminum mesh screen in the bottom of the '56 but nothing in the bottom of this '59 to protect the impeller. Unless its "missing" ?

Your later Mobile Maid may be earlier than you think, Greg, but I'm not sure how long this model & style lasted in the GE line. This one I had was from 1957 and did have a grill/mesh in the bottom over the impeller. Mine is now at Jamie's (chromacolor) here in Omaha, he loves it and it's perfect in his 50's kitchen.

hmmmm

hey greg, your probably right, mine probably is a '57, its identical to above. FUN, noisy machine. I actually ran a load of dirty dishes and it did a good job but nothing was baked/burnt/ or stuck on and my water is pretty hot so that is probably why whereas I have heard that these were not the best performers.

I used mine as a daily driver when the motor in the KDS-18 went bad and it didn't do a horrible job if you scraped well and brushed out the stuck on food from pans, etc.
