Here I am washing 3 pair of jeans and a sweat shirt. You can really see the tub index. The SQ dist. located a service company. I'll call on Monday to schedule an appt.

Looks like it needs brake pads.

Thanks for the video footage! I'm glad SQ still has the slower-longer stroke agitation and spin-drain. Very nice, indeed. And I think the tiny bit of indexing is kinda cute, even if it isn't supposed to be there.

Those jeans move as easily as hankies

and that punp had the water out in ONE MINUTE. Wish my SQ pump was as fast; she needs almost 5 minutes to drain.

Thanks for the intense concentration it takes to get a movies on this site. Merry Christmas.

Tub Indexing

I have a Speed Queen AWS52NW which is a step down from your model and the tub indexes also anywhere from 2 to 6 inches. I have a feeling it is normal for this machine.

Question?????

Easyspindrier,
How did you get your washer to operate without pressing the lidswitch? I have the ASW52 model and I have to press the lid switch up in order to get it to operate.

As for my tub indexing, I just washed a full load of jeans and there was no indexing at all. Maybe some washers are made that way. However, it did roll over those jeans very well.

Overriding the lid switch

Remove the small hex screws on the back of the washer console and then tilt the console forward to release it. This will give you access to the connections behind the console. There are two wires that connect into a small rectangle lid switch mounted to the top of the cabinet. Just pull the wires off of the lid switch and splice them back together. There is a plastic cover over the spade end of each wire. You will have to take wire snips to trim or break the cover to expose the ends. Once you do this that is it. Also if you want to increase the water level on your machine, you can do so by turning the hex screw on the water level dome inside the console 1 to 1 1/2 turns in a clockwise direction. This will allow and extra 1-2 inches of water at the highest water level. Just at the level where it touches the bottom of the softener dispenser. This might be more info than you want, but I thought it would be helpful.

I was just about to ask if the water level in the video was at its highest factory-set level. That seems to be their trick lately---just lowering the water level to decrease the number of gallons used in a cycle. The same thing was done to my Frigidaire TL'er. Unfortunately, mine doesn't have an adjustable pressure dome thingy.

sorry for the delay in responding.

washerman8 - the couple inches of the washer top that overhangs in the back is open to the console. I felt around (with the washer unplugged) until I located the lid switch. Seems to be a flat metal piece. I looped a long twist tie over the metal piece and tied it to the inlet hose to keep the swith in the down position.

frigilux - if I remember correctly the water level was just over medium. I believe on extra large the water is almost to the white tub ring.

Indexing

I have a 95 Dependable Care Maytag, super capacity washer, and mine too will index at times under a heavy load, even when ex large water setting is used.
If I was doing the same wash load, I would use the highest water level. Jeans are a heavier load, and require a higher water level for them to circulate for a proper rollover. You used a medium water level, and making the machine to work harder during agitation, causing the tub to index in the process.
Just my observation.

Rich

James-- (on water levels) Glad to hear SQ's highest water level still fills the tub. Yet another reason I like their product. At the highest setting, the water level on my Frigidaire fills to where yours is in the video. Like your machine, that water level USED to be just over medium until Frigidaire decided to just decrease the water level in order to make the washer appear less thirsty. Unfortunately, that really cuts down the capacity.

Bunjy Cord(sp)

mrb627's profile picture
I used a bungy(sp) cord to override the lid switch on my Amana. A 3 ft cord between the switch and the bottom edge of the machine work fine. Then if you have an OOB condition, you just pull up on the cord to reset it.
