It has been a couple years since I have had problem setting the water level.On the 1-18 you can reset the tub's water level by turning the knob counter clockwise and setting the knob at the desired tub level. A couple years ago the water level never stopped at the desired setting and water overflowed. Tonight I reset the tub's water level and the water level continued past the desired setting. Luckily I was there to watch it. I had to spin the water out and reset the water level again. For the second time, the water kept going and never stopped at the desired setting. Again I spun the water out and set the level a third time. This time the water stopped at the desired level.

What would cause the water level control to not work and stop at reset setting?

By the way anybody want some Colorado snow. We have plenty

We could take some of your snow in the East, skiing is lousy here!! I have an 1-18. I do know that there is a pressure switch behind the control panel that allows water and then air in a tube to tell it when the tub is filled to the desired level on the dial. This dashboard switch has a diapharam and a screw setting that tells it such. The tube that goes to this is attached to a larger tube that goes to the outer tub. Sometimes this can get clogged with schmutz in old machines, never rising the water sufficiently or telling it to shut off the water to the solenoids of the intake water. Try taking off the back control panel and finding this tube that attaches to the water level dial mechanism thingy. Try forcing air, or really hot water down it. Cold water washes over the years with fabric softener and hard water could give this tube a major blockage. You'll have to perform an angioplasty, of sorts with hot water or even a dull coat hanger.

Thank you, but Fort Collins has enough.
It WAS generous of you to offer, however.
I thought of the build-up problem too, but there is another possibility.
When the weather gets and stays this cold this long, it might must be that the diaphragm was too cold and stiff to activate the reed switches.
Just a thought.
