..Speaking of Boots

I have a Bosch Axxis+ Washer that is two years old. I have two other friends who bought the identical machines shortly after mine because I gave it such rave reviews.

My question is, myself and one of the other guys are not having any problem with our machines, but the third guy is on his third boot. That's in less than two years. The boots on his machine seem to get torn to shreds on the bottom of the opening almost like someone has taken a knife to it and shredded it. He says he is very careful in removing clothes, and he lives alone so the Washer really doesn't get that much use. He probably does 2 to 3 loads a week. Mine gets used almost every day and I haven't had a problem in almost 3 years.

Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening to him? He asked the repairman, and his reply was that it probably has to do with the detergent he is using. Well, he and I both use the same detergent so you would think I'd have the same problem. Luckily, he has an extended warranty on his machine but it just doesn't seem right that he has had to use it twice already.

Anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Checkrate/Likes *Does he have a dog or a cat?* My otherwise wonderful cat has a thing about shredding leather and rubber. I have to keep all my really good shoes out of his way, and anything fun hidden. Lawrence/Maytagbear

Checkrate/Likes *Chlorine Bleach?* I've had a Bosch Axxis+ for about the same amount of time - a little over two years. I also use it about 2-3 times per week. The rubber boot is like new. I do remember the user's manual stating that chlorine bleach is very harsh on the rubber, and can corrode it. I've therefore never used it in this machine.

Checkrate/Likes *Chlorine Bleach?* No, he has never used bleach in the machine. We both use OxyClean in our white loads but never bleach. We also both use Persil which is recommended by Miele for use in their machines so I suspect it's not the detergent. It really is an odd situation.

Checkrate/Likes Well, would it make some kind of noise when it was running? The last time I was at his house it was on, and sounded like mine. I looked to see if maybe it used more water or something. When mine is on the wash water never comes up to the door only the rinse. His appeared to be the same way.

Checkrate/Likes *Check this* Check for sharp edges on the interior cabinet walls , the counter weights , it sounds like your machine skipped a step in production where they grind off welds and smooth any bending creases before final assembly. You'll probably have to take the boot off entirely to make the inspection. Jet

Checkrate/Likes Jet, Thank you for the suggestion. He is in Chicago and I'm in Arkansas. He would never be able to do this and I'm not sure I know how although I could probably with some instructions. He told me the boot was going to need to be replaced again shortly so I'm going to forward your note to him and ask that he have the service man check this when he replaces the boot again. Ralph
