It has been years since one had anything to do with a small/120v dryer, but was wondering if today's versions by Whirlpool/Kenmore and GE are any better than vintage dryers from say the 1970's on. Today's models sell for over $350 but seem to have features found on their bigger brothers such as: automatic drying sensors, quieter motors and suspension (no drum rollers), and in some cases greater airflow due to larger "grate" in back of the drum. Still at the end of the day one is speaking of rather limited heating power, so really how much of a difference can there be? L. |

Thanks for all your input, cecided to spring for "new" and go with a GE "Spacemaker". The new line is no longer has the standard Whirlpool/Kenmore design with a small kidney shaped lint filter in back of the drum. Rather GE has redesigned their small 120v and 220v dryers to have full size air/heating grate at the back of the drum, and put the filter back where it belongs, in the front of the machine (in door). Now to find a decent price. L. |
