Oh Greg, It is just beautiful!! I love the lighted console and the whole machine looks to be in such great shape for its age. Can't wait for more details. Terry |

Sorry, should have put the year... 1955, model AW2 - the very first washer with the Kelvinator name on it (obviously made by ABC) Jon C. told me today that for this machine, they essentially turned the ABC-o-Matic machine 180 degrees (controls) at the back) and added the panel with lights. I did run the machine, sans water, and other than a couple little issues with the timer dial and shaft, it seemed to run fine - nice and quiet. It will need new belts, hoses and a thorough cleaning inside and out but the interior rubber parts are still soft - the agitator boot is still flexible and soft.

The style of the script that says "Automatic Washer" looks identical to the style used on GE washers of the same years. |

Is there a control in the center of the back console or is that just a decoration? I love this machine and what you have done to restore it!!! |

Never seen anything like it here on the east coast. I could look at it for hours. You certainly are a vintage appliance wizard. |

Thanks everyone for the congrats and interest in the new Kelvinator - it is fun to find exciting things and the best part is being able to share it with everyone. The only lights on the panel are behind the temperature and cycle indicators and the flourescent light under the Kelvinator "hood". The center Kelvi crest isn't lit - just a little missing paint. |

Ha - that's the best part, I found it at an estate sale that was literally across the street and a block north of the Launderall dealer we went to when you were here in August. He was a Kelvinator dealer after Launderall went down the drain. Now in my basement, this is the farthest this washer has travelled since it left the factory! More good news - the word is out, three different people called me to tell me about this washer they saw at this sale... |

The 55 Frigidaire Uni in Robert's basement! In Sherwood Green! Of course I would love to have pink! Has anyone ever seen a dryer or a washer in pink? |

Hi Bethann I think Bob is right...check out this advertisement for the 1955 Frigidaire washer and dryer, they show only white, green, and yellow. Pink may not have been introduced until 1956. The 1955 line was the first year that Frigidaire offered color. I hope you find a Sherwood washer to match your beautiful dryer someday. Rich CLICK HERE TO GO TO golittlesport's LINK |

You guy's are right again! I really thought that I had seen a pink fridge. Good thing that I still wasn't looking for a pink 55 fridge! Would have been looking for a long time HUH! I love the style of the 55's. Does the 55 dishwasher look like the 56? |

No problem! A little wash off White spray paint! Pink 56's? All we have here is this pair of White one's! I'm thinking the night time janitor approach would be best! Hopefully Greg has a fire pit out back so we can burn the clothes! |

I discovered that set a loooooooooooooooong time ago. It was the first classic American washer I found on the internet. In my Yahoo picture album the map called "My favourite appliances" the washer and dryer are in the first two pictures. Keep your fingers away! Don't touch! Stay away from that washer and dryer! That set is mine! It's mine! It's mine! It's...
