Browsing this site, I found a picture of the exact Lady Kenmore model which was the first washer I recall my family having when I was a kid. I remember being facinated by the agitation, wondering how from a spinning motor the alternating motion could be created. I remember going to the library and finding books on gears and mechanics. Was equally facinated with the centrifugal water extraction from the spin. I always wanted to peek in and watch the spin, but the Lady Kenmore had an internal mercury switch so I couldn't bypass it. I'd listen for the water injection during spin. Ours wasn't a suds-saver, but I think the timer had a section that was simply unmarked that would have been used for the suds-saver mode. Anyway, I lifted this pic from PeterH's collection page, (thanks Peter!), and I'm curious if anyone knows the year this model was produced. I was born in '64 and something tells me this machine was perhaps '62. I loved the fluorescent lighted console too! |
