Aren't these just GORGEOUS! Surprisingly this set isn't the first set of Maytags I've seen that have shown little cosmetic wear! $100.

I believe this aws more like a 1962 to 1964 set. It could have also been the last year before the new control panel re-design in 1966 or so. Notice there's that little knob on top of the panel on the right of the washer. That aws for warm or cold rinse option.

Good eye Bobbie!!! I didn't notice that the first time I looked at the pictures. I had to go back and look, and yep, there was that little knob....you can "bearly" see it. Why didn't they just make a few more push buttons???!!

When I was growing up, one our neighbors had a similar Maytag washer. I believe that it's a 1962 model. The control on the top of the blacksplash was used to set the rinse temp and was labeled "automatic" and "cold". (I also always wondered why they didn't just add more buttons.) My mother had a less deluxe version of this machine -- it didn't have a lighted blacksplash and defaulted to a warm rinse whenever "hot" or "warm" was selected. You had to reset the cotrol to "cold" after machine filled with water if you wanted a cold rinse.

I think cuz this was a very simple add-on without totally disturbing the control panel.

Classic Maytag

I think i actually like the design of these Maytags better before they redesigned in the later sixties. The way the porcelain top upsweeps into the control panel.I always liked the simplistic high quality look of Maytag machines regardless of their actual performance. They did the job and did it well.

These are the exact same models I had in turquoise! Looks like the washer needs new ball hinges for the lid but otherwise in great condition. The dryer has both electronic and timed cycles on the dial with a push/pull knob and "filtered air" drying.

Here are a couple of pics of the 'Tags I had. I would love to find these again - in turquoise of course!

I've always thought the standard tub Maytags with the black agitator did a great job washing, I'm always satisfied with my pink Highlander's performance.

This and the pushbutton A900 model had the rinse water selection knob, but the other models in the line used the same chrome panel but changed the speed control button sets to four smaller buttons for the suds-saver models.

Classic Maytag

Hi Greg, these Maytags were still using the "gyrator" agitator before the power fin,am i correct on that?

You are right, this was pre-Power Fin washing at it's best! The power fin was intro'd in 66 with the new cabinet and panel designs.
