The machine you are referring to is a Bendix Economat. I remember some neighbors had those when I was growing up in the 1950's. They did not extract water very well. Ross |

Next time, try not typing in ALL CAPS, as on the internet that is considered shouting. |

When I was very young, we had renters that had one. Other than the lousy extraction, I think it worked pretty well. I do remember them borrowing my mom's wringer on her Maytag before hanging the clothes out, though. |

In the washer music video I made a few months ago, there is a shot somewhere in the middle of the video of the lid opening on a Rubber Tub Bendix, right after the vacuum pressure was relased from the extraction cycle. You can see the rubber tub expanding and all the clothes pasted against the agitator. CLICK HERE TO GO TO unimatic1140's LINK |

Hi Robert. Great video. I enjoyed watching all the different wash actions and the vintage TV. Ross |

I always wondered why she bought a new Kenmore set(with the ovals in white) in 1964.I was told that they were really loud and did not work very well. Although, at the time, she said that she was tickled pink to have any washer and dryer.I love the video Robert. I recognize almost all of the machines.
