For us Duet/ kenmore HET owners having error code problems. I was just wondering if anyone knows if they narrowed it down as to exactly whats causing it. I have a repair scheduled for tues. My machine is under warranty with Whirlpool. F11 and fdl codes. I know this has been a problem with alot of us who own these machines. ANy info would be appreciated.

Mark

I don't know about that, but while I was watching an HET5 run at Sears yesterday, it suddenly stopped and displayed an error code. Nice demo, huh?

Duet HT codes

Dear Mark 40511: The f-11 code is referred to in the service manual as a "serial communication error." Your machine has a "user interface board" (with the pushbuttons), a central control board which takes info from the interface and from various sensors and controls the machine, and a motor control board, which takes commands from the central control board and info from the motor, and controls the direction and speed of the motor (as well as providing variable frequency 3-phase a.c. for the motor). Serial Communications Error refers to a problem with the digital communication between the central control board and the motor control board. It can be caused by bad electrical connections between the various boards, or between boards and components like the motor. A defective board can cause this as well. The FDl code is a "door lock error," meaning that for various reasons, the door will not lock; it must lock before the machine will operate. It will try 6 times to lock the door, then display the code. Causes can include a broken or missing door lock part, a defective door lock/door switch assembly, or a bad wiring harness plug-in connection at the door lock assembly. In fact, this code could also trigger the f-11 code. Hope this helps! By the way, very few Duet owners I know have had any problem with error codes other than the occasional "Sud" code if they fail to use HE detergents. Rinso, I've noticed that on the rare occasions that a Sears store has a machine plugged in for display, they don't hook up the water. If you try to run a Duet HT or its Kenmore equivalent (or an Oasis or Cabrio) on anything OTHER than "Drain & Spin" or "Spin Only," the failure of the machine to fill with water will trigger an error code, most likely a "FH" code ("no water detected entering machine or no pressure switch trip"). Most likely, the "trained salespeople" don't know this....

Thanks, I hope the repairman knows what to fix when he comes out. I've done alot of reading on the net and alot of the kenmore duet owners have been getting the same error codes as I have. My machine worked perfectly for a year on concrete floor very quit little to no vibration. The first repair they ordered a door lock mechanism and when they installed it, we still got error fdl when. I don't know what the guy did but he raised the top of the washer and fiddled with something, whatever he did it worked for a few more months until I started getting f11 and fdl. At first I was just getting fdl. SO I hope the repairman is going to know what to fix seeing as how it can be a number of things.
