Note how the dryer has the lint screen in the center top of the control panel. In the late 60s, I visited friends who had an old electric dryer from the 50s with the same lint screen arrangement. It was some department store brand. It was Thanksgiving weekend and there were about 10 people in the house so we got to do a bunch of laundry. The dryer was slow and made very soft towels. After I dried a load or two, I thought I would check the lint filter. I pulled it up and it was so full that lint fell out of it. It was a small basket open at the front and it was packed like it had not been cleaned in months or years. After I cleaned it, the dryer dried faster, but the towels were no longer as soft as when they tumbled in steam. I think I remember that it had a perforated drum, maybe galvanized, with visible heating elements. This Zenith is the only other dryer I have seen with the same lint screen placement. Does anyone know the manufacturer? Could it be one of those Gambles Scogomo machines? Thanks, Tom
