I've been restoring 1-18 dryers for the owner of this warehouse as I get the chance. My next project is to restore a 1-18 washer in each color to match the completed dryers. I think I have my work cut out for myself. Any local guy want to assist?

Again, all these 1-18s but none with the sudsaver feature.

Note yet another Maytag 806 off to the left.

This is the completed 1977 Frigidaire Imperial dryer with Press Saver that I restored. Thank Goodness for Reeco Timer Company. It took two bad Imperial models to get one good one. And would you believe it - neither timer would advance to Press Saver.

Rich, what is the washer behind the GE? I don't recognize the console.

Oh my gosh! Its my 1 18's washer and dryer! Where is this at?

Wanna share? Pp p puhleeeze?

Seriously, I think I need a few parts. My washer has metal shavings/falkes in the bottom pan and it has developed a rattle. Im not versed in washer sounds but I think I may need parts or a new one at the least in the near future. I cant help but love my frigidaires. I have the maytags, and they are pretty and minty but its odd really, I am still comparing everything to my my 1/18's and always do. It must be first impressions or something. Dunno. You have some fine lighted back babies there.

What a treasure trove!

Rich, what a beautiful 1-18 restoration on the dryer. Wonder if I should send my timer in as well. Does the same thing. On the 1-18's, they sure did have timer motor issues, certainly caused by the timers, but at any rate. Looks good!

Age of the GE....

That GE with all the buttons is likely to be circa 1981 or '82.

Now as for that copper Maytag 806 dryer--well forget that--rather, direct your attention to the avocado Kenmore gas dryer next to it with the modulating "Soft Heat" burner. About 100x better at drying than any 806.

Hey Matt,

Thanks for the info. I see that you're now in California. Hope the move went well. So if these GE's are newer, what should I look for. Would the cutoff years be when the selectors were toggle switches instead of buttons? I am waiting for a dispensall.

I believe that Jimmy has finally convinced me to save at least a few brands other than Frigidaire. I will be keeping the Maytag 906 set of course and have a lead on a late 50's set of Kenmores. Now I just need to find the room!

Rich

RE Age

So many of these seem to look alike... If you want an exact date on the machines, post the model numbers and I'll look them up for you.

Joe
