This is from 1962-63'ish. I had this same dryer in turquoise, matching washer is A700. Here are a couple of pics in a Yahoo album, click "download" for the full size version. The photo before this one is of the washer.

Maytag Washer and Dryer

The scans are of the first automatic washer and dryer my parents bought. The dryer was the electronic one and the washer the second to TOL some push buttons but the round timer in the middle with the cold water rinse knob on the top right side of the washer. That washer is still running at my brothers the gas dryer flamed a load of clothes early 70's parents bought a new set A806 washer and matching dryer. This washer is still going in her house now dryer they sold when they made a move to a newer home but was electric.

I always wondered why they added the sprinkler when the dryer had damp dry. Up until they bought this pair had a 1948 Maytag wringer that went to the barn to be used for rags ect. About a month after getting the dryer mom went out and cut down the clothslines had always hated hanging out and dust getting them dirty or black soot from refinereies in the area.

For Partscounterman

I really enjoy the scans you create! The Maytag specifications are pretty cool. I have a few, too, that I've shared with gansky1.

These are the types of machines my parents had while I was growing up. They just ran and ran ... good quality machines. I'm still on the hunt in Central MN for a nice classic set!!

I wonder if the clothes sprinkler really worked.

The clothes sprinkler was a round disc that replaced the filter in the back of the drum and used for sprinkling dry items prior to ironing. I never used the one I had for my dryer - still have it but it doesn't fit in the DE906. I think it says to use it on Air Fluff cycle only - bad for the heater with no air flowing through the drum. I always thought it looked like a mess and couldn't imagine how it would get everything evenly sprinkled for ironing. Another gimick...

Don Shier has a model A702 I sold him a few months ago. He was going to use it parts for another similar machine. Maybe he still has it in one piece.

Beautiful Dryer!

It looks minty fresh! Those were very popular Maytag models, made for several years in that style, I'll bet you'll find the washer in no time...
